Put the pearl barley on to cook. After 20 minutes, once the water has come to a boil, add the sauerkraut, fresh cabbage, grated carrots, chopped onion, garlic, salt, bay leaves, and spices (to taste).

Once the vegetables become soft, add the spices and boneless, skinless, fat-free chicken. Cook until done. Add the herbs at the end.
